Starting today, Tab Shelf will be accepting feedback via a Google Form (though email messages will continue to be accepted).
The project has not had as many bug reports as I would have liked. Ideally, no bug reports are best, but I noticed that a vast majority of bugs I have fixed in Tab Shelf in the past year were those that I found myself.
I think one reason why a lot of people are choosing not to provide feedback via email as due to anonymity or privacy. Seeing lately that privacy has become a much bigger priority in people's choices of browser extensions, I realised that people might prefer to keep their identity a secret when making bug reports or making feature requests.
You can visit the Google Form page here.
A bit of a rant
It has also been frustrating dealing with people who chose to bash the project via reviews without finding out the facts.
For example, with the recent issue surrounding privacy and permissions usage, some users have chosen to make demands about open sourcing the project and making assumptions that their privacy was being infringed.
Honestly, that's a legitimate concern that I share too. I even wrote a whole blog post explaining that it was a mistake to include those permissions and explained how they were only barely used.
Of course I won't make use of those permissions again, and I'm willingly making changes to how privacy is being communicated in regards to Tab Shelf.
But making vague, outright statements via reviews is akin to spreading hurtful rumors that have an impact on the project. And likely many other extension makers, as I have seen on various spaces online.
